Wisconsin Gov., Republicans Rig Vote On Bargaining Bill
Wisconsin Senate Republicans used a hastily called conference committee Wednesday evening to rig a vote on Gov. Scott Walker’s proposal to eliminate public employee collective bargaining from the budget bill. The committee then sent the bill immediately to the full Senate, which advanced the measure 18-1 with no debate.
Idaho Legislature Strips Teachers of Collective Bargaining Rights
The Idaho state legislature approved a bill on Tuesday to strip public school teachers of many of their collective bargaining rights.
• Governor Scott Walker and the Republicans’ ideological war on the middle class and working families is now indisputable, and their willingness to shred 50 years of labor peace, bipartisanship, and Wisconsin’s democratic process to pass a bill that 74% of Wisconsinites oppose is beyond reprehensible and possibly criminal.
