NEA Fund Donation Drive

posted Feb 7, 2013, 6:58 AM by Political Chair NCEA
After February Break, members will be receiving a flyer and donation envelope in their boxes for the NEA Fund. Donations to the NEA Fund can be made through the provided envelope (return to your building rep) or online

The NEA Fund is the political action arm of the NEA. Our dues cannot fund our political activities (otherwise we would lose our non-profit status). Federal law states that any dues that are paid as a condition of membership cannot be used on behalf of or donated to federal candidates.

"As the NEA’s national political action committee (PAC), the NEA Fund provides direct financial support to recommended candidates for President, the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate who will fight to support teachers, staff and students and improve public education. We also support pro-public education candidates in gubernatorial and other important state races. In addition, the NEA Fund makes independent expenditures asking people to vote for or against candidates based on their position on public education." - About the NEA Fund

All donations must be turned in within 2 weeks of receipt if individual contributions are under $50, within 5 days if an individual contribution is over $50. Donations to the NEA Fund are NOT tax deductible, as the Fund is not a charitable organization.

If you have any questions, please contact Kris Goldhawk (NCHS), our local political action chair.
